Our Story
RosterArchitect was born from firsthand frustration. Our founder spent years in Hong Kong's healthcare system as a registered nurse, watching ward managers wrestle with spreadsheets and whiteboards — spending entire evenings juggling shift constraints, leave requests, and fairness concerns, only to start over when someone called in sick.
The reality of roster generation is deceptively complex. It's not just filling slots — it's balancing legal rest periods, skill-mix requirements, staff preferences, weekend fairness, and dozens of unwritten rules that live only in the head of whoever draws up the schedule. One small change cascades into a chain of conflicts. It's a problem humans solve by gut feeling — and it shows in burnout, complaints, and quiet resentment over unfair distributions.
We knew there had to be a better way. So we built one.
What started as a side project between night shifts became 9MB Project Limited — a Hong Kong software company on a mission to automate the hardest parts of workforce scheduling, so managers can focus on what matters: their people.

Why We Understand Rostering
Most scheduling software is built by engineers who've never pulled a night shift. They see roster generation as a timetabling exercise. We see it differently — because we've been on the receiving end of a bad roster.
We know what it feels like to work seven nights in a row because "the system couldn't balance it." We know the frustration of being the only senior nurse on a ward full of juniors because the skill-mix wasn't considered. We know the silent tension when weekends are distributed unfairly month after month.
That lived experience is encoded into every rule our engine handles — from mandatory rest periods and IC coverage to fair weekend distribution and cross-training requirements. RosterArchitect doesn't just generate schedules. It generates fair schedules, because we know what unfair ones cost.
